High Rigg B&B started in 2012, since when owners Kim and Mike are delighted that guest numbers and feedback ratings have risen steadily (currently 5 out of 5 on TripAdviser). We are often told 'you've thought of everything', and that's certainly our intention. That and getting the details right, like fresh flowers in your room, specialty teas (if Yorkshire Tea isn't your preference) or sharing local knowledge on areas you're interested in. As both sons are now at university we have taken the opportunity to welcome more visitors, with the introduction of a second guest room.
We believe in 'typical Yorkshire hospitality' and in the importance of cake! So all our guests are welcomed with tea or coffee and home-made cake. All our food is locally sourced and high quality, such as dry cured bacon from Marley's Butchers in Helmsley, free-range eggs from 'Bill up the lane' and home-made strawberry and blackcurrant jams. As keen gardeners, we constantly try to improve the flower beds and shrubbery, and to grow more of our own fruit and vegetables - some of which finds its way onto the breakfast table or into cakes. We're also enthusiastic about the great walks and nature that are on our doorstep, particularly where there's good food and drink opportunities nearby (there usually is!).
